Circuit board worries me
My central air conditioner is an Amana with the air handler and compressor in one unit outside. There is a circuit board that has burnt out. This board is located at the top right of the panel opening to the compressor compartment. The A/C repairman has called several parts suppliers and his Amana parts dealer and cannot get this part. The model number of the A/C unit does not exist in their systems. Isn’t that strange? I did a search on the web myself and can’t seem to find it either.
Since it was really hot and it no one could supply the board, he has wired the A/C unit to bypass the burnt out board. He says that it’s OK. It has been running fine for a few weeks now but in the back of my mind I am wondering if it really is OK to bypass the board. Afterall, it must have been there for a reason. The only difference that I have noticed is that the compressor and exterior fan starts about 30 seconds before the interior fan which circulates the air in the house. Previously, the interior fan would start about a minute before the compressor.
Am I worrying for nothing?
Should I see if the board can be found and have it replaced?

circuit board
hmmm, i cant figure out what the board does unless you have a heat pump. if you do, it was probably the defrost board and it will have to be replaced before winter. when the extior fan and compressor start before the circulation air blower, this is normal. all the newer high efficeint units do this and many of the older units. the circulating blower should also run for a bit after the compressor and fan shut off. this part is normal. controlled b y time delay
