Musty smell from AC

We've recently used our AC a few times (San Antonio, TX) and have noticed a musty smell downstairs when the downstairs AC unit is run. The upstairs unit runs fine with no odor at all. A smell is not noticable when using the heat. An AC technician came out and cleaned the coils with bleach but hasn't seemed to fix the problem. I've also replaced the filters when we first noticed the problem but the smell continues. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
ARG

Where does the ductwork go to to cool the lower area?

Seems like flex is used alot in your area, maybe it has mold/water?

Sealing

try sealing the return side air tight, all connections with mastic. We had to do that with a Bank one time that had the air handler in the basement....Its likely just basement like odor. Condensate pan tablets by Kontrol help knock down algae growths. Bleach kills it but algacides keep it down. A dryer sofener sheet wil help mask odor too.
