Replacing Thermostat

I'm in FL and I have a Carrier Pump and Air Handler. I'm thinking about replacing the current thermostat, White-Rodgers 1F58-80W, with a Honeywell RTH7400D. Will this be the proper replacement? I'm worried about wiring, as it says in Honeywell's manual not to follow the existing wiring color coding. Any advice?

Wink

The color of the wires dont mean a lot. thats why they said that. Mark down what color wire you take off of each letter on the old tstat like R W G Y C E L O OR B with the heat pump and put them back the same.

H/P thermostat

Save yourself a lot of potential grief & expense. Call a pro to replace the thermostat, if you are not 100% comfortable doing it. A lot of my service calls are the result of a homeowner replacing his/her own thermostat & messing something up.
