AC Unit Kicks On then Off

Turned on our AC unit for the 1st time today. Vents inside the house blowing lukewarm air. Unit outside turns on for about 5 seconds, then turns off and continues this cycle until shut down. Inside, Mode is set to COOL and Fan is set to AUTO. Any ideas?

Dont run the outside unit this way. id call a hvac tech could be your low on freon . Make sure he checks for leaks.

Cetral Aircondition not working.

My central air stopped working last night. When I turn on the unit, outside unit is running but I am not getting any air from the vents. I stopped the unit last night and turned it on this morning and the same issue. I wne tot he unit outside and I could see there is ice on the pipe coming from the unit. Is this an issue with cleaning filters or coils etc.? Thanx

I am thinking of having AC added to my 1996 Carrier 58WAV Upflow furnace. There is a lot of extra space in the sheet metal enclosure used for the cold air return, but not a lot of space in the hot air plenum (bonnet?) above the furnace. I know for an upflow furnace the evaporator coil is usually installed above the furnace, but can the evaporator coil be installed in the cold air return side?
