Three story home / two AC Units - Operation?

I have a new three story home that has two AC units - one unit for first floor (entry way and guest bedroom) and second floor (open floor with kitchen, living room and dining room) and one unit for the third floor (master bedroom). During the days when we are gone (8am - 6pm), we set both units to 82 degrees to keep humidity out (we live in Houston Texas). In the evenings (6pm - 10pm) we set both units to about 77 until bed time when I then set the 1st/2nd floor unit to 82 again (to stay at until the next evening) and leave the 3rd floor unit at 77 until time to leave for work in the morning and then set it to 82 when leaving for work. Is this the most efficient way to run these units or is there something I am missing with regards to setting one unit with respect to the other for best efficiency.

Most people find it more economical & comfortable to leave the thermostat at one setting.
