Air conditioning fan stays on
The air conditioning in my house works fine but at night when the temp drops I shut off my air conditioning , but the fan out side runs continuously , I have to go outside and pull the fuse to stop it .... any ideas ?

The compressor stops, but not the fan?
Make and model of the outside A/C unit?
I find it odd that the if fan will keep running, and the compressor stops.. Most units use one contactor to run both fan and compressor.

Air Conditioning help
We need more info as was stated is just the fan running and not the compressor if everything is running you may have a stuck contactor but that would also be strange that it did not result in a freeze up

Some condensing units break only one side of the line when the contactor shuts off. Since you more than likely have a 230 motor with a hot lead still going to it, there is a winding in the motor that is gone to ground and the motor will continue to run but at a lower speed. Before you change the motor, which you will probably have to do because it is going to blow out soon, do this to prove what I am saying. Cut the power off, be sure your cap is discharged and disconnect the the leads. One ohm meter on a good ground, the other on a motor lead will probably read a very low resistance verifying it is grounded. LOL

Mike, the original post implied that the compressor was off.
Jay"s post #3 got the same impression.
If the compressor is in fact not running, then I am not merely guessing, but stating from experience.
