3M Filtrete Filters worth the price ?

When I had my Central A/C installed last year, the installers put in the washable filters in the returns. I used them last year and the system seemed to work ok. I looked into the 3M filters due to allergies, air quality, etc.

I installed the 3M 1250 Ultra Filters (Merv 11) a few months ago and now it's time to change them again.
Any thoughts on the 3M filters ? Are cheaper non-brand filters that are listed as Merv 11 worth it ?

Use of "special filters" can cause a dramatic reduction in air flow, which in turn could lead to various problems including freeze-ups. I do not recommend anything other than the cheap throw away fiberglass filters. It is important to change filters frequently.

A 3 or 4 dollor pleat will be fine! Electrostatic and 3m should be left for the trash man.
