Hi all,
We have a high-pitched whine in our return in the master bedroom. Needless to say, this is quite annoying when you are trying to sleep! The noise is continuous when ever the A/C or fan is working. The A/C is directly below the master bedroom in the basement. This is a new house.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
The U

You may have a seriously undersized return, list the face sizes of all returns and the unit tonnage and we will see where you are at. You may need to enlarge the return or add another one. A FPM flow of over 1000 FPM can cause noise, most residential systems are designed to be well below that. a lot of times what was designed and what was put in by the installers may be a bit different.
