Hello, When installing a hard start kit, when an why would I choose an SPP7 or SPP7E. (We're assuming the "7" is the right size, I'm just using it an an example) What does the "E" do for me? Thanks! Mark

We have 2-zone heating for a 3000sqft home. The upstairs unit, which is only 8 years old, has a lot of water in the secondary drip pan under the entire unit and is not cooling too well on 80+ degree days. The unit seems to be on all day. We had an AC technician out to service the unit, and he said the unit, which is a side unit, has a manufacturing flaw that causes water from the coil to be blown over the primary drip pan, down the unit and into the secondary pan. Apparently this was fixed on newer models by making a horizonal coil, rather than a vertical one. He also found the condenser pressure to be 300 and 62....whatever that means! His opinion was that we have some sort of block in the coil or lines or that the freon is bad. The options he proposed were: 1 - Evacuate and replenish freon, put a new filter on hose outside, check for obustructions in oriface or TXV. He'd charge over $1500, and there is no guarantee that this fixes the problem. And....this option does not include fixing the water issue, which he said could be fixed if we simply molded some sheet metal to catch the water and filter into the primary pan. 2 - Install new 3ton coil and condenser for $3700. 1 year warrany. Does anyone have recommendations on which one we should pursue. I don't like the thought of trying to manufacture our own funnel-drip pan for fear of blocking something important and interfering with the air circulation in the unit. Is the price to do either reasonable? BTW, I did check the hoses outside. The big one is not nearly as cold as the hose on the downstairs unit. Both small hoses are warm.
