I have a late 70's split level home with a Boiler in the ground level garage (under the living portion of the house). The house has a split central air unit with the blower and evaporator in the attic. The boiler also heats my domestic hot water. In the summer when it is 70 degrees, in the morning, my garage is well into the 90's and stays very hot all day. I'm sure this is not helping the efficiencey of my central air. Should I find some way to vent this heat in the garage? Any suggestions. The man door to the garage has a screened window. I was thinking of installing some kind of fan. The ceiling in the garage is finished and insulated. Any help would be appreciated. Long term plan is to install a new boiler with a separate tankless water heater, but until then I need a cheap alternative.

I just purchased a home built in 1984. There was just one return air vent in a hallway until I started pulling off paneling in the living room and found what looks like a feed directly to air return by the ac unit. There is no air filter on the hallway return and I don't see one in the unit itself. Do I need to add a vent that will hold a filter in my new found hole where the paneling used to be? Any other options? :confused:
