Sound blanket on outside compressor

Is this something i can have added or customized or is it only an option on certain brands? I think it'd be ALOT cheaper than relocating IF it's effective - and MAYBE the newer outside units are ALOT quieter? My current is a 4ton TRANE thats probably 8 to 10 years old.

Thanks

My experience with compressor blankets is that when they are removed I personally hear little differnece in the noise level.

Much of the sound is transferred to the base and the fan adds a consideralble amount of noise.

Wink

You dont say for sure just what is making the noise here.
There is vibration absorption mounting pads that you can get and slip like under the corners of the unit . That might help. Could check the fan blades and see that they are ok.

the noise source

If I recall most of the noise was from the WHINE of the compressor, and i think there was a bit of sharp noise when it started up too - its been a couple months.

i will mention the shockabsorbing mounts, etc to potential companies.

thanks again!!

For your current and any potential units you should be able to find out what the db noise rating is.
