Question Air conditioner works but blows hot air initially

We just moved into an older home with a heating/cooling unit as one. The house stays cool, though humid buy when the air comes on the unit blows hot air initially. This lasts for a couple of minutes and then back to cool. It appears to be maintaining temperature but I have never seen or heard of this before. It was 'supposedly' given a once over by both a house inspector and an a/c professional. What gives?

Warm Blow

This is quite common if the fan comes on at the same time as, or before, the condensing unit. Most equipment today has a delay to allow the condensing unit to run anywhere from 15 to 30 seconds before bringing on the circulating fan. The delay allows liquid refrigerant to reach the evaporator & actually start cooling. There will always be "warm" air in the ducts but it is gone in a couple of seconds.

Wink

With Grady here. Also you dont say if the duct work is in the attic. if so yes you will feel some hot air when they first come on for sure.

Smile Thanks...

That makes sense, we just didn't have that effect in our other home. The ducts are in the attic...just wanted to see if this signaled an issue that warranted a professional.
Thanks so much!
