Question What's up with my HAVC thermostat?

My thermostat on my heat and air system has started to "jump" from its setting. Usually happens when unit is in standby mode. For instance, you can set for 72 F and once unit has reached the set temperature and is off, sometimes setting will jump to 84 F. Same thing happened back in the winter except desired setting would drop approximately 10 degrees. Thermostat is digital. What would cause setting to change?

The first thing I would do is to replace the batteries. After that, I would look into replacing the thermostat. Make/Model?

Digital stat problems are very common. Anytime it reaches a few years old, it becomes suspect for a variety of strange problems.
