A/C Compressor not working
Hello techs. I have a Trane Package Terminal A/C Unit, Model# PTEC1201GBA that is not kicking the compressor on. I have no wiring diagram, or owner/service manuals on this unit. I changed out the original Capacitor (10years old) in the hopes that was the problem. The Capacitor was a 30/5 MFD 370VAC unit.
Compressor still does not turn on . I need some direction in eliminating the electrical controls and voltage supply to the compressor. If proper voltage is being supplied to the compressor, then the compressor has more than likely taken a turn for the worse.
Any wiring diagrams, suggestions, and/or ideas in troubleshooting this problem are welcome. THanks

Check the compressor itself with a voltmeter.
Turn power off at the disconnect
Remove the wires from the compressor terminals and check for continuity between each. If it's open (no continuity) between any of the terminals than your compressor has open windings and is dead.
If this proves fine, check for continuity between each terminal and ground. If you get continuity between a good ground and any of your terminals than you compressor is grounded and therefore dead.
If these prove fine, restore power to the unit and check the control circuit.
Is your contactor pulling in?
Is your transformer supplying 24v?
Are there any pressure switches on the refrigerant circuit?
If so are they open or closed?
With power supplied, manually push in the compressor contactor and see if it comes on. If it does than you definitly have a control problem.

Thanks for responding to my post. Where do I find the contactor? In my home A/C unit the contactor is located by the capacitors, and relay. THis wall unit has the controller and the single capacitor located in the front left behind the cover. Let me know. THanks.

Jay my unit is not digital. The link that you attached did not open a valid page. I searched Trane's website, but was not able to find anything on the older unit that I have. Have any other ideas and/or suggestions? Let me know. Thanks!
