Unhappy Blower motor

Hello,
I came across this site and i am in desperate help. My ac started making a squealing noise so I called a tech to come take a look. He said i needed a new blower motor and squirrel cage. I pulled the motor and found the part and model # but i cant seem to find the right one. The tech said he could replace the motor with a universal motor. Is this true? If so, what do i need to match up to find a compatible motor ( h.p., amps, volts etc). This is a old system and the first time its gone bad so i am looking to repair mainly because of money. The existing motor model is 5kcp39jgd958b8 and part #024-20254c001. This is a GE motor 1/3 HP 60/50-HZ, 208-230 volts and 2.10 amps. Can someone please help me with a replacement. I would greatly appreciate it.

yes, get the matching HP and RPM motor... Take it with you to a motor shop, or Grainger.

And while you are at it, get a new belt.
