A/C Won't Turn off

It won't turn off no matter what setting I put it on...Heat/AC/Off, or if I raise the temp all the way up. I even tried the power breaker but it cuts back on when I turn the power on. The fan outside isn't running. And yes, the filter needs to be changed...but could that be the cause of it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What won't shut off??? The big blower inside or the compressor itself?

Maybe you have the FAN switch on the thermostat in the ON position.

Go to your thermostat, it should have two switches...

the first one is called the "system switch"...it has the words COOL, OFF, HEAT
the second one is called the "fan switch"...it has the words ON, AUTO

set that fan switch to the AUTO position
