carrier heat pump noisy start up

have 1 yr. old carrierheat pump model 25hbr336a0030010. when it starts it sounds like the whole unit will vibrate itself to death for 5 to 10 seconds. seems to run an abnormally long time no colder than it is. the installer has serviced it and says that everything is fine, that it is a scroll compressor is going into defrost and that they are noisy. is this a common problem with carrier? the way this thing sounds(wakes you up in the night) i dont see how a blanket around the compressor is going to stop the noise. any suggestions?

Wink

Might check does it have a crankcase heater on it and does it work? If not might put one on it.

AC Compressor Noise

This residential compressor should be getting it's heat from one leg wired through a single pole contactor if someone has mistakenly replaced it with a two pole contactor or it is factory setup with a two pole contactor then it must have a crankcase heater that is working or liquid refrigerant will migrate to the bottom and cause major failure.
