I Could Use some good Opinions
First of all i want to thank everyone who put time into answering questions on this page. This seems to be a great resource and very convenient.
My house was built in 1992 and we haven't needed to replace the air conditioning system until now. We also are replacing our furnace at the same time. We have done tons of research and got plenty of quotes and it has come down between Trane and American Standard.
I know Trane is a devision of American Standard, i also know its heat pumps are virtually the same as American standards.
This being the case however Trane is a good $2,000 more in our quotes. Why is this? Is Trane worth the extra amount of money, and if so why is worth the extra cash?
I would really appreciate any advice as soon as possible.
Thanks Again,
-Alex

Its hard to stop a Trane so they say. The difference between the units can be a bunch if you are not comparing apples to apples. Both lines carry different grades so be careful to look at the equipment specs carefully, if you have done your research you probably know that Trane has a LOT BIGGER advertising budget LOL.

My take is that your paying more for the Trane name.
But, as Saturn said you have to look at the product specs and check for differences. Sometime the 2 are exacly the same with different names. Sometime the same size unit is as different as the brand name.
Post the model numbers for units you are considering, someone may have time to look and compare for you.
