Neither fan nor compressor comes on

Neither fan nor compressor comes on

neither the fan nor compressor comes on at outside unit when called for but if I push contactor in with my meter they both come on and work fine any suggestions.

You mention a meter. Do you have 24 vac at the contactor coil on a call for cooling ??

where should i check for the 24 volts at on the contactor i get 120+ on each leg and 240 when on botyh legs when i kick it on the contactor will close but only temporarily if held down both the fan and compressor run fine

if i test across the contact where both end closes i get 0 the small control wires or red and black wire on either side they read from 2 to 4 volts only places i could think of checking really dont know what else to do

could i use the contactor and or capacitor for a trane unit i have at another property this unit is a frigidaire unit

i can def say there is no 24 volts anywhere on the system all control wires are running no voltage or up to around 4 volts
