Safe to run

Hi
my window AC [Kenmore 6000 btu] was left in the back yard, three or four months ] exposed to rain and weather. Is it safe to re install and run it or is there the risk of an electric short or shock if touched, as the rain may have damaged some component?
Thanks

I would suggest that if it has been indoors for a long period that you ensure it is unplugged and open up the electrical box on the front of the unit and look for signs of water damage.
If it was sitting in its noemal position water infiltration would be minimal.

As a test you should operate it for a short while on a GFCI recptacle or if you do not have one buy an extension cord type and operate it continuously on this.

You might take the outer case off and check for animal or insect nests, particularly in the blower wheel and electrical box. Wouldn't hurt to clean the coils while it's apart, too. I prefer an alkaline coil cleaner and water blast, being careful to direct the spray in the perpendicular so you don't bend the fins. And wash the filter...
