need advise on ductless split ac line set

I am looking to install an 18000 btu split ac. one brand, 'Shinco' has the line set at 1/2" for the gas and 1/4" for the liquid line. Other brands that I have seen use bigger sizes - 5/8" for the gas and 3/8" for the liquid.

I am trying to understand the significance of the line set sizing as it relates to performance and anything else that is important. can someone shed some light?

thx,

The line set size is determined by the manufacturer based on equipment type, refrigerant type, and size of equipment.

1/2 and 1/4 are not uncommen for a mini-split.

Welcome to our forums!

banyan,

There is a sticky at the top of this forum topic that explains we do not offer or support diy a/c installation as you must be qualified and certified to work with this equipment.
