having problem with AC

OK so i turn the thermostat on to A/C and I hear the unit outside cut on. The A/C cools the house for about 6 hrs and then blows nothing but air. if I turn it off for half a day then turn it on again it does the same thing, cools for 6 hours then stops. the unit outside runs the whole time but the air stops being cold anyone know what this could be?

You're sure that it isn't simply the thermostat simply cycling the unit off? What do you see when you go outside? The whole unit is off? If you're sure it's not the thermostat then something outside is shutting off- most likely the fan motor and then the compressor goes off because there is no airflow thru the outdoor unit. The problem could be a bad capacitor, or malfunctioning motor. You might have to babysit it to see exactly what is happening.
