when it get too hot in afternoon AC compressor

I have a unit that just run fine at night, but in the afternoon when outside temperature hit pass 100F then my unit in timeout mode (snow sign kept flashing), until I switched it to on then furnish start blowing for a few minutes before compressor kick in, when sun came down then it run just fine.

dirty condenser or somebody overcharged or burped some air into the system....try a wsh out from the inside out on the condenser.shut the unit off on stat and off on the disconnect and pop the top off...don't blast it with a nozzle hose like when you wash a car....

Can you "double filter" on a return? (Ugly return installed)

We had a 5" Trion media air cleaner installed in our new A/C system. We're using Merv11 filters. There is no pre filter installed, just the main 5" filter. For the 24" return, the HVAC company installed a non operational open slat grill that allows you to easily see the insides of the large return duct. Kind of unsightly. I asked if that should be a 1" filter there, with a grill that opens, which would act as a prefilter, and also stop you from seeing the insides of the return in the ceiling. Additionally, since I can't open this easily, I can't insulate the return opening in the winter (lost heat into the system). The HVAC company said having another filter in line would restrict air flow too much, which is why they don't do that type of a grill when they install a media air cleaner on the air handler. I can provide a picture if needed, but is it ok to replace this grill with another style that has a 1" filter in it, so I don't see inside the return? How would this be different than if we had installed the prefilter with the 5" system? Thanks!Read More

HELP! York Diamond 90 no air out of duct

The unit is about 5.5 years old. I had similar problem last year when I first started the AC in the summer. There was no air coming out of duct. Last year I had it on for a day and had condensation along the coolant line then I turned if off and mysteriously it just started a week later when I tried again. I had a HVAC guy came over anyway to check everything out, he spent an hour and told me there was no problem that he could found. This summer I turned on the AC again and the fan outside is running but no air coming out of duct. Where should I check? Anybody have the schematics of the unit? Am I better off calling for a service guy again? Any help is greatly appreciated!Read More
