Amana 13 Seer 4 ton gas pack unit.
My parents live in Globe, Arizona. They had this unit installed in 2002 and have had it serviced yearly. Last night my mom was outside and noticed that the the unit (roof mounted) was squealing so she came inside and turned it off. She waited a couple of hours and turned it back on. It's been running fine since.
Why she decided to tell me late today that there was an issue, I'll never know
I'm guessing that it's the Condenser Fan motor. What I'm wondering is..does anyone know if this unit has a place for oil?
They are elderly and can't get on the roof to look and I'm nearly 2 hours away.
All of the A/C supply places are closed here until Monday. So even if I decided to replace the motor & capacitor - I'm buggered.
They can't get anyone out until the middle of the week and I'm concerned that it's going to quit on them.
If I could get the part numbers off the motor & capacitor I would pick one up early Monday morning and drive up to replace it.
As it is, I'll have to drive up, look at it, drive back to the valley to get the part, drive back up to replace it.
Unless it can be oiled, then I'll just oil it up and be on my way.

They usually have sealed bearings. If it comes down to a motor replacement, you'll wind up having to pull it, go buy a universal replacement that matches and return. In the interim, download this brochure, you might find it helpful.

I've seen how units are installed on those sloped roofs in AZ. You be careful up there. Thanks.
