A/C fan motor wiring
I removed the old motor and mounted the new one. The old wiring was red, brown, and black. The new witing is Brown-capacitor, Brown/white-capacitor, Yellow-compressor, Black-speed. I assume that black stays the same. Does yellow take the place of red? I also assume that solid brown and brown and white take the place of Brown. How do I hook up the brown and the brown/white wire to the capacitor? Do they go on the same post? Please help. The motor is A.O.Smith FSE1016SV1 and the capacitor is Packard POC 5. Also, When hooked up the fan goes on for about 5 min then shuts off. The breaker at the house does not trip. It sounds like the condenser is still operating without the fan.

Yes I did make a diagram. The old motor had brown into the left side of the capacitator (oval looking box). There was a red witch went into the switch. The black was on the right side of the capacitator and so was a gray that went to the switch. The grey is still there. I don't know if yellow is replacing the red? and I don't know where the brown/white wire goes.

yes. There is a small oval "box" with two terminals with 4 prongs. Then there is a switch next to it with two terminals with 2 prongs. The grey wire connects the right terminal of the oval box with the right terminal of the switch. I took a pic of it but don't know how to upload

Brown and brown/white go on oppisite terrminals of the cap, remove the gray wire and wire yellow and black to load side of contactor, put black where grey was and yellow where red is. What are yellow and black called on the schematic of the motor?
