Trane XB13 as opposed to XR13?

Can anyone give me a comparison of these 2 condensing units? I need to replace the A/C unit in a condo in FL. It is a split unit with a "pancake air handler". The contractor gave me a quote of $1500.00 for the XB13 condensing unit R-401A The air handler which is leaking & unrepairable will cost $500.00 to replace under exisiting replacement contract! I'm choosing to replace condenser at the same time which is 35 years old & will allow the switch to R-401A. I have seen a few XR13 units around and would like to know if it's an upgrade to the XB13 and weather it's worth making it? If I can get $ figures it would be very helpful.Any advice or suggestions are very much appreciated!

The difference is that the XR has a compressor blanket which makes it quieter and it looks better. The XB is the low line builder model. You will still get some fan noise on both but the XR14 is even quieter in that area.

IN FL I would not put in a 13 seer. I would go as high as you can afford.

Thanks for the help

I went with the XR13 because of the 10yr warranty(which you have to register for after May/09), the extra seer that is indicated on the trane site, somewhat quieter, and it looks better(I see at least 3 recently installed in my buiding of 24 units alone)! The higher seer units would have been alot more money, and I'm not there all that much!
