A/c help

Hello, my first post on here hope to get some help. I am a new home owner and of course trying to learn everything I can.

I have a programmable thermostat for my ac. The problem I need answered is I set my temp on 75 to 76 usually, when the set temp is hit on the thermostat the A/C continues to run.

Why will the ac not kick off when the set temp is reached? Is there something wrong or is it just not getting cool enough even thou it says on it that it is.

If I didnt explain it well enough please let me know and I will try again.

Guess: bad thermostat maybe.

Does the ac continue to run and NEVER cut off?
Does the AC appear to continue running but it's really just the fan that runs a few minutes after the set point is achieved and the condensor has shut down?

Accurately describing the conditions is paramount to getting a precise answer.

What did they used to say about computer programs?

Stuff in..... stuff out.

Yes, even if the set temp is hit, only way i can shut it off is move the temp up a degree.

2nd ?- Seems as if the AC is still on.

I have another thermostat, I am going to try it and see what happens.
