wiring t-stat to heat pump

Last year I had my a/c condensor replaced with a heat pump/condensor. The air handler has a heat strip and the t-stat was hooked as the old system was. I would like to rewire with a honeywell rth3100c stat so that the heat pump is the source of heat NOT the hest strip.I will run new wiring as needed - What gets hooked up to what?

The RTH3100C will only work as a heatpump stat.
It will energize Y (compressor ) on demand for heat or cooling.
