New AC/Heating system.

I have just received the below quote from a AC Company in Houston. This quote/proposal is the result of an energy audit that was done on my home. (Home was built in 1972 and is very leaky!!!!) In addition to the below proposal, the ductwork will be patched/sealed and re-insulated. The cost for the duct work is not included below.

AC/Heater system:

Install 2 New Carrier Comfort 14 Air Conditioning Systems
with Infinity Furnaces $19,760

Condenser: 24ACB436A30
Condenser Install Package: new slab, filter drier, suction line insulation
Evaporator Coil: CSPHP3612ATA
Coil Install Package: primary drain lines, secondary drain pan, float switch, R-6 sheet metal plenum, sheet metal transition with coil inspection panel, duct collars with dampers, TXV
Furnace: 58CVA090-16
Furnace Installation Package: flue vent, furnace stands, return air plenum
Indoor Air Quality: Carrier Media Filter
Thermostats: Carrier Infinity User Interface - relocate if required

Is this price competitive/fair?

Since I own homes in Katy Texas and Northeast...Tx business are about 2 to 3X on AC prices. I have bought up here and shipped down and still saved.

I agree but the payback will take a long time. I can get Carrier stuff cheaper then anyone (fact) and I did not use any better then the MIN up north. Not worth the money. I paid about $300 for a confort series 3-ton 13 SEER. I also have there best Infinity 21 SEER 3-ton paid $750. Brand new from Carrier (NY plant).

If the OP is saying in a house for only 5 years max, I would not waste them money.. If longer, many on price.

To me, the guys price seems HIGH but most in Tx for AC is a rip off.

I must think a little different. Id say if you will only be there five years you should go with a better unit because of resale. You will only be talking what 700 between the two. at $10 dollars a month savings that's $600 dollars in 5 years. Makes sense to me to go with the better unit.

I can see that point. Resale people do not care about SEER levels. They care it is works and the age.

I bought these units for my northeast house and my Katy house only has 13 SEERS. I do not like there all year so I do not care!

My northeast house will show a savings from a 13 to a 21 in about 30 years...LOL

I would NEVER buy an AC from anyone in texas and I know people that own them..
