need help finding tons on my carrier have model number

Hi, this will be my first thread ever I hope I did this right...
We are having to purchase a new hvac, Ours is old, it was here when we bought the house (11 years ago)
I have 2 numbers
model 8nht030300 or 8nht038300 (I can hardly read it)
serial 0490038121
what I want to know is how many tons it is, I donít want to go down in tonnage (is that a word?)
We did have a Man come out to give us a est. and he could not read it either... any help would be greatly appreciated I know you have other threads about how to read it but I tried and I still donít know
Thank You Very Much

First your contractor should do a heat load on the home to size the unit. If he does not, find another company. Also with the numbers you gave it is 2.5 or 3 ton.

you probably should go down a half ton because the new stuff is much more efficient, but do a load calc.

Efficient equipent has nothing to do with the size of the unit.
