can bad capacitor be linked to leak in central ac system? the repair guy came out and stated that there was a bad capacitor and there was a leak in the ac system as well. need to know if they are just coincidental?

Since it's supposed to get close to 90 degrees today, I figured that I should switch the thermostat over from heating to AC and confirm that everything runs as expected. I cleaned up around the AC which had a bunch of leaves near its base and sprayed down the fins to get all of the fluffy seeds out. I then went inside and set the thermostat to 72 degrees to force things to get going. It was 76 degrees in the house at the time. I could hear the furnace kick in as expected so I went outside to confirm that the AC was running. Unfortunately, there was just silence. I next checked the breaker and confirmed that it was on then I checked the wires inside the furnace to confirm that everything was still attached. Next I checked the low voltage wires exiting the house and they were around 24 volts and then checked the cut off switch outside to confirm that it had 120 volts present. Everything seemed fine up to this point so I disabled the cutoff switch and began opening up the air conditioner. I took off a portion of the AC case and noticed that a fair amount of debris was inside the base of the unit so I removed the debris. Next I took off the shield covering the electrical area. That's when I found an issue.:madhell: [IMG]http://i50.************/2rynbr4.jpg[/IMG] After I cleaned out the mouse nest, I noticed that one wire had been completely eaten through while another had a good chunk of its insulation consumed.
