Fan issue on Trane XB1000 system

Hello all,

I have an issue with my Trane XB1000 ac unit not working. The fan will not run when the unit runs. Capacitor for the fan is not showing current, and although it did once, the fan will not jump start when pushed with a stick. The fan also does not move freely.

I think it is possible that both the fan motor and capacitor are defective. I have to leave town for a few days and can't work on it myself as I would like to, so I am calling a service to do it. My wife will be here to take the service call, but I will talk to the tech on the phone.

Is my thought on the likely issues correct? If so, what should I expect to pay?

Also, will running the unit without the fan running damage the unit or compressor?

Thanks for the input.

Waldo

sounds like the fan motor is bad. id expect to pay 350 and they usually replace the capacitor at the same time. and it is impossible to run the outdoor unit when its fan does not work, as the unit will shut itself off after over heating.
