Before I buy an expensive Lennox Control Module...

I have a Lennox Gas HVAC G24 model. Blower fan is not functioning. Control module reads slow flashing...which supposedly means normal, I have replaced the Blower Fan Capacitor after it tested as wide open. The fan itself spins freely and is not hot. I also replaced the thermostat hoping it was just the cheap stuff that was malfunctioning, besides upgraded to a programmable thermostat. Still nothing...any other options other then the whole control module board? The external AC compressor is working just fine just no blower fan in either AC or heat mode. I am open to all suggestions.

Apparently you have some test equipment lets check and see if power is being supplied to the blower motor before we buy a blower control.

Ummm Dohhh...just assumed...

Okay...thank-you for stating the obvious. I just tested the fan wiring harness, I got relatively constant 24 volts at each connection W R Y B...so...I guess its the damn fan after-all. Odd it spins fine and isn't the least bit warm. Maybe the fan is less then the control module! Now if only I hadn't just moved here I would have someone that could buy R.E. Michels with out having to pay the doubled retail prices!

You want to make sure you have 120 V to the fan...

Hi all, I am entering my fifth year living in a 808 square foot home built in the 1950s. It has hardwood floors original to the house with age showing, so bad I can see through some of the cracks! The crawl space and walls are not insulated and the attic was just insulated to around R-30 two weeks ago. Now, here is my problem. Last spring, my house started not cooling anymore - it was blowing just not cold. I have a 2003 Weather King 2.5 ton central unit with a horizontal air handler in the attic. Model #10JA2501 for the unit. The entire central unit (including all duct work) was installed in 2004 by a friend of my brothers (brother owned house then). Anyway, I called a service tech out last spring when it started acting funny - low on freon, recharged and went on his way. Cooled for a matter of hours and was hot again. When I say hot, in South Georgia today humidity at 100% feels like 110 outside! So, I called him back the next day, well convenient enough my compressor apparently went "bad" overnight and that was my problem. $900 later I have a new compressor, since five year Warranty with Weather King expired two months prior! Yeah, nice. Well, next day after new compressor installed - no difference. Hot. Called him back - an convenient enough he tells me unit is too small for house. Let's do those measurements again, 808 sq ft - 2.5 ton unit, too small? No, I didn't get a new unit, I called three more companies each with a different result. First, said copper line from unit up to handler was too small (it was 1/4 ") he replaced with 3/4" said that was problem. Cost me $100. Next day, hot. Called him back, he says unit hit by LIGHTENING (no weather overnight now) and that I need a new unit. Second company, said unit too small for house. Third company (came today) said coils dirty and needed freon. Its 7:45 my unit has been on 82.50 since before they arrived at 11 a.m. this morning and still is with target temp set at 75. Last night, it was 93 at 8 p.m. and did not drop below 85 until after midnight. All last summer light bills were around $400 for an 808 sq ft house, because this thing never shuts off! I told the guy today that before the compressor was replaced the unit outside would occasionally make a very loud hissing noise for around 30 seconds then resume at normal sound. Today the unit outside has a slight hissing to it. He said something may be wrong with valve, but was going to research it and follow up with me tomorrow. What do you think? I don't know what to do, I have done put more money than I had in it as it is. I could have bought two units with all the service calls I have paid for and work that didn't change anything. I have a one-year old daughter in here all day, and I am going to have to pay for childcare just so she is not in this steamy house - it's dangerous for her. Any suggestions would be helpful. AC Capacitor & blower issue???

I recently had my unit recharged because I have a leak but luckily its not too bad and usually lasts about a year, anyway after we had that done the HVAC tech recommend that we replace the capacitor because it was weak for $96 + labor. :eek: We decided not to have that done and left it @ that, after about two weeks of the unit working; it stopped working. I bought a new capacitor and installed it, and the outside unit started working again but still the blower in the attic would not turn on. When the condenser clicks on then the blower (I think) tries to turn on but it just has a low hum and no air comes out. I'm trying to figure out what the problem can be, because I'm in Texas and yesterday it was about 95 degrees outside. Any help would be appreciated. :help:Read More
