Replacing wall A/C unit

Hi all,

I'm replacing my in-wall a/c unit and i'm looking for suggestions.

I'd like at least 18000 BTUS.

The previous unit was an Emerson 18GD44-M. It doesn't blow cold air. I suppose I could have it fixed.. but it's quite old.

Width = 26"
Height = 17"
Depth = 23 1/4"

Thats the size of the opening (old a/c's dimensions)

Any help would be appreciated!

Loud Whistling Noise when register closed

I have two ac units in my home. One upstairs, one down stairs, both installed into two different attic spaces. I closed several registers in the upstairs to try and increase air flow to some rooms that are used more. After I closed them they made a tremendously loud whistling. We not really a whistle, more like a hurricane sound. It is very loud, it can be heard through two closed doors. It is like this down stairs also only on one register. 2 upstairs, one downstairs. What can i do to stop the noise and still keep the registers closed.Read More

Window a/c unit and vinyl windows

Hello experts, I need to install a window a/c unit in a small room. We have vinyl windows and I am pretty reluctant to drill holes in vinyl windows and/or the wood frame. I should also mention that this is a second floor room and I cannot support the unit from the outside. I tried a portable a/c...works great, tons of very cool air, but the noise is way to much to bear. Any work around it? Thanks.Read More
