AC compressor won't stay on for more than a minute.

When I turn on the AC the compressor kicks on and blows cold air but only for about a minute then it kicks off and won't come back on unless I turn the unit off and let it set for about ten minutes. Then it just does the same thing again. Could this be a thermostat or capacitor problem, or is there something wrong with the compressor?

Thank You.

The compressor could be shutting down from a low refrigerant charge due to a leak in the system. You will probably need a tech to come out and put his gauges on it to see whats going on.

It's a window unit. It seems to be fine on coolant since when the compressor runs for that minute it is very cold air. But I don't know much at all about AC's
