Question Intermittent heat on AC, I have cold but no hot air

My split AC runs well on cold however, when heat is required it runs for a couple of minutes pushing out hot air, it then throws a batch of ambient air out for a few minutes and then hot air again, after 10mins running time hardly any hot air comes out and the blower reduces to a minimal fan setting of luke warm/ambient air. I have tried setting to max heat (28C) and max air flow, it makes no differance whether set on manual or automatic settings. Liquid level should be ok as running well on cold, ouitside temp is around 6-8C, all filters, condensor and Evap' are clean, no blockages of airflow. Any one help? Peter

possibly a reversing valve issue creating excessive head pressure

Hmm, had thought that would be the region where the problem would lay, rip out clean, check and if neccessary replace, probably the best option, cheers Tech.
