Lennox AC Condensing unit problems

Hi All,

Last season air conditioning did not work, called out 2x service techs and both seemed to agree that the Compressor motor was bad and suggested replacement of the entire outside unit.

This year I decided to do my own research and see what I can do to save some $$$.

Took cover off outside unit and found missing DUAL capacitor. (assume tech #2 "borrowed" this part)

Ordered part, received today, I cannot understand the wiring diagram on the cover or the online diagram.

Pics - pic 1 is before I installed capacitor. Pic 2 is after

Service manual

hs24-311-1p lennox unit

the unit fires up as is, but only the fan seems to be working. What indication will there be if/when the Compressor comes on?

I wired:
yellow from comp --> herm on cap
purple from fan --> fan on cap
CAP C terminal --> GREEN WIRE INCLUDED WITH CAP --> CHASSIS GROUND

Where does pink "jumper" wire go?

Thanks all!

That green wire will not connect to the terminals labeled Com, Herm or Fan. It connects to the capacitor body.

Pink connects to capacitor Com (although it is actually run).

The tech did not borrough your cap. When the compressor failed your cap was swollen on top, he replaced the cap and it did not work so he removed the new part.

You should remove power and measure continuity between the compressor terminals to ground before energizing this condemned compressor.

If 2 techs have condemned the compressor it is not going to run.

Be safe...
