Automatic filters

Does anyone have any experience with automatic changing filters? We have a unit in the attic which is very difficult to access so the filters do not get changed as often as they should. I'm thinking of a roll filter of some kind like those used in some industrial units. Any ideas are appreciated.

Not for residential. How about instaling filter grills.

I thought about that but we have individual returns in each room so putting six separate filter frames doesn't seem practical. Also a couple of them are about 8x24 or something like that for getting filters would be a major project.

ok. so put a filter cabinet on the unit in the attic with a 4" thick filter that only needs changed every 6 months to a year

I hadn't thought about that but it's probably the best idea. I'll have to find somebody to do that.

Because my own air handler is difficult to get to, I put in filter grilles. Changing all filters only takes about 1/2 hr.

Switch for a 40+ year old westinghouse wall ac.

We are looking to replace a A/C switch for an old Westinghouse thru wall AC. The old switch caught on fire awhile back. It has 12 connectors total. 9 on the back and 3 on the bottom. 2 for power (230 volt),, 2 for the Thermostat and I guess the rest go to the 2 Capacitors. (I will look better at the wires tomorrow). The system is 230 volts. 12 AMPS. 2550 WATTS. 14,000 BTU. With HEAT. 60 CYCLE. 1 PHASE. (COOL HI/LO. HEAT HI/LO. FAN HI/LO.) My question: Does anyone know where I should look to find this very old switch? I checked online without any success. Thanks again!! CHAS60

Attic Air Handler Drain Pan Empty - Emergency Drain Pan Not Empty

About two years ago I had central heating and air installed into my 1,200 square foot home. The air handler is installed in the attic. It is hanging from the rafters with an emergency drain pan underneath it. I go into the attic on a periodic basis to check the unit and often find the emergency pan full of water. I had the installer come check the unit on two occasions. The first time I was told the unit was sweating and that it was normal. The second time I was told the primary drain maybe slightly clogged so he blew it out with a portable air tank but the emergency pan continued to fill. Today I open up the air handler to find the drain pan inside the unit empty and the insulation in the bottom of the unit to be completely soaked. It appears the bottom of the unit is filling up with water and then dripping out into the emergency pan. The installer was suppose to come out last week to check it but has yet to show up. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
