Trane a/c fan

my mil had a new a/c unit put in about 4-5 years ago.
looking like this one, though i didn't think to get the model #.
Trane Air Conditioners

she said the a/c quit working. i had a look at it, looked fine.
i took a stick and tried to spin the fan, it was seized.
but i was able to free it up, didn't take much.
the a/c works fine now.

what i am wondering is : is this an issue with these ?

can i replace, if needed, the motor myself ? (i told her to use it, but keep an eye on it)
i am mechanically inclined.

thanx

Apparently your more mechanically capable than most people if you freed it up. One thing about machines, once they do something once, they always do it again in a short time. i think ur gonna have to replace the motor, but let it run till it does it again

probably has a 5 year part warranty...... Call your local trane dealer or the installer with the model and serial to check on part warranty
