Wiring questions on changing over a 1 pole contactor to a 2 pole contactor

My air conditioner compressor unit sustained some damage to the contactor relay. If you manually force the contactor to engage the compressor will start running normally but will not engage itself.

Below is the picture of my original contactor as it is wired up in the compressor.

My local HVAC dealer sold my wife a 2 pole contactor with the assurance that it would fix our issues. My problem is that I was expecting a replacement in kind where I could unwire the old and replace the new in the same exact manner.

Below is the picture of the 2 pole contactor, it has different places to attach the wires on the top AND bottom of the contactor while the 1 pole has the attach points at the top.

I am feeling a little apprehensive about trial and error on this part any help greatly appreciated.

JohnUt, I have moved your post to the air conditioning forum because it is more of an HVAC than just a electrical question.

you wire it exactly the same as the old, its just that both poles are open when the system is off...... Most manufacturers used single pole contactors simply because they are less expensive.
