First post - Outside fan runs, inside cools, reaches temp, won't resume

Our central air unit (zoned - Bryant) has gotten persnickity.

Turn it on, the inside cools, the ourside runs (motor and fan). When the inside temperature is reached, it turns off as designed. The temperature rises (quickly in Texas I might add) and the inside until starts back, but the outside fan doesn't start. We turn it off, wait, turn it back on, the unit seems to work fine again, bringing the air out of vent down to 56 degrees cools to the 75 degrees we are set for, cuts off -- again, doesn't restart the fan outside.

Any ideas before we beg someone to come tomorrow -- hate to call someone out on a Sunday!

Just thought I would try.

Thanks

Susan

Can you push the outside fan to help it to start? If you can start the fan that way, then you may have a bad capacitor.

Is it just the fan outside that isn't starting or is the compressor not starting as well? You have to have both running to cool.
