A few questions about air conditioning?

ok, so we are having air flow issues with our air conditioner. The air is cold and will blow adequately through the vents when the outside casing panel is off the inside air handler, but when the panel is put back on barely any cold air comes out of the vents. What could this be?

Hi,

Not an a/c guy and know from reading here.

1 Is your filter dirty. Change the filter and try it. Also there are filters ar the return duct or ducts that also might need changing.

2. Possibly the coil is becoming frozen, which I believe is cause by dirty filters or low freon. But you say it cold so I would say dirty filters.

The pros will be around soon.

how can you determine if the coil is restricting the air flow?

Lawrosa,

Thank you for responding! Our filter is clean, coils are not frozen. Air is cold, but not blowing hard enough to cool the house. It worked great last summer. When you take the top panel off the air handler the air blows very hard through the vents, but not cold. We are thinking it has to be air flow restriction at the coil. We cleaned the coil last night. Any other thoughts?

It would be really dirty But would not happen over night.

You pysically cleaned it so its not frozen correct?

And did yo check to see if a filter is at the return grate? Check it.

Have you put the c over on and run it with no filter to see?

We cleaned the coil last night, so it should be clean. It is not frozen. I just checked again. The filter is in the return grate and clean. We have tried to run it with no filter, but the issues still occur. I am not sure where to go from here.
