Replacement Window A/C with thermostat on-off control
I need a window A/C unit that doesn't run all the time... so if will cool automatically via thermostat controls. My current unit has a fan that runs all the time and the cooling kicks in via settings. I'd like a unit that shuts off & on. Also would like it to be able to heat in winter.
Any recommendations? Everything I look at the HD or Lowe's doesn't have any feature and the help there doesn't know squat either.
Please help! Thanks

They use to be common but they seem less common now. My guess is that complaints about the wider temperature swings in the room when the fan doesn't run constantly and the extra cost of parts made some manufacturers drop that feature.

I just put one in my neighbors garage last year...it had the "power saver" function that only turned the fan on when it called for cooling. Bought at HD for about $100 I think. Straight A/C...no heat.
