New AC/Heating system, are they taking me for a ride...

OK, so my a/c system is finally dead. For the last three years I have put about $500 a year into keeping it alive. Now, the blower wheel and motor went and it’s going to cost $1100 to fix. So I got a price for a new system, I just have no idea if I am about to get ripped off…

Here’s what they quoted me on:
5 ton 16 SEER system for $5585 after rebates. Retail: $8273

Condenser: Bryant: 116bw4060
Furnace 1: Bryant: 313aava60110
Cased Evap. Coil: Bryant: cwdv6124

I am a computer geek and have no clue if this is a good deal or if I am about to get taken for a ride… Tried googling the above model numbers but could not find anything. Not sure if it makes a difference but this is in the Tampa Florida area. Thanks in advance for any help!

sounds pretty cheap, but that is not really what this forum is for or about. Main thing to consider is the installer. Ask for references and get at least 2 other quotes. Remember you get what you pay for!

wow, what rebates are they offering? $8200 does seem pretty dang high to me. seems like it should be $6500 max before the rebates. is your old system a 5 ton as well? That price would be justified it you got a new lineset, whip, pad, disconnect, a 90 plus furnace with a variable speed motor, then i guess i could see 8000 dollars. but do you really want a 16 seer, 13 seer would be like a thousand dollars less. I agree, get more quotes.
