vent on furnace, should it be opened or closed with c/air or heat?

I had a new furnace with central air installed almost 2 yrs ago. I can't remember if the tech told me to keep the vent that is on the belly of the furnace opened or closed when I have air or heat on---I know he said one way for heat and the other way for air. I do not have their info to get back to them & ask. Thanks for you help!

Vent on the belly of the furnace... Hmm I'm trying to think of what you are talking about but can think of nothing. Didn't know furnaces had vents. Though I did install about 50 of them this year I still can't figure out what u mean. Unless its the humidifier
