central air unit, fan wont start on its own?

central air unit, fan wont start on its own?

hi i am new here tryin to figure out what is wrong if the fan on my unit outside all of a sudden will not come on by itself. i have so far got it to kick start by usin a stick lol and it eventually will then work, so is the fan goin out on me or does it just maybe need lubed down? help a hippie out lol i would love some input, after i get the fan goin it runs fine and cools fine but soon as i shut it off, the fan will only start if i help it along the way, any ideals what i am dealin wit? thank you so much

You need a new capacitor which is in the condenser unit. Search this forum, you will find lots of capacitor related threads.
