The A/C Nightmare Continues....

Recap:

A/C Condenser wouldn't turn on. After several nights struggling with the testing (with the generous help of the folks here) we finally got the unit running by bypassing the break timer.

Three days later, the motor gave up on me. After much searching and gnashing of teeth, I ordered a motor. It arrived today The A/C has been out since Saturday.

I removed the old motor without incident, but the fan blade had attached itself to the shaft. I tried a variety of techniques to remove the blade for the shaft. Ultimately I used a press to remove the shaft from the blade. In doing so, the collar that fit over the shaft ripped out of the sheet metal body of the fan blade. The body of the blade is bent and there is no way to reattach the collar.

So...I need a new blade. Holy crap.

Meanwhile, there is no part number on the blade assembly. How the heck do I find a new blade? My unit is an Inter City Products (ICP) AJ036G1. There are little to know cross references for the fan blades.

Please help...again.

Allen, If it weren't for bad luck, you'd have none at all when it comes to that A/C.

If you can get any other information off the condensing unit, it would be helpful. I'll call my local Tempstar distributor tomorrow & see if he can come up with any part number for the fan or at least give me the pitch, size & rotation.

Here's all the info I have, directly from the unit:

Inter City Products

Model No.: AJ036G1
Listed Condensing Unit 686S
Style No.: 36DCA-000093ZR
Serial No. L943075526
MFR No: AJ036G1

Do you need voltage/Phase Ratings, etc?

Tell me what you need.

Thanks

I think the ICP part number for that fan is 1085840. Here's a link to a place where you can buy one, but I'd contact them before ordering.

Is your fan a 2-blade, 5/8" bore, counter clock wise rotation, & 26" in diameter?

FAN CC 26" 2B 5/8" 22 DIS S

"Yes, that's it," he said through the tears.

I'll order it now.

Thanks for finding it for me...I had no idea how to go about it.

It took a bit of hunting. Computers can be a wonderful tool at times.

I'm going to be in Clemson in October. Should I bring tools?

By October, we'll have sweated away to nothing. I hope to be done with this as soon as i get the fan blade. But who knows what's next?

Why would anybody want to visit Clemson? Yuck! (Disclaimer: I am a big SC Gamecock fan. Clemson is our most-hated rival). Still, you may want to bring that toolbox.

Have relatives near Clemson. Yeah, we better have that thing fixed by October, if not you will probably have moved to cooler climes. I'll be bringing tools just because every time we go to see relatives I end up working on the A/C, heat, water pump, or something else & others tools just don't feel right in my hand.

Clemson is a beautiful area and a great school. Even my daughter is looking to go there. We just like beating them more than anybody else.

I may need to head up there to get some help from you....

I've been out of town too. I expect it to arrive while I'm away and install it when I get back. Thanks for following up.

I'll keep you posted.
