Fan shutting down and kicking on

Fan shutting down and kicking back on
I'll often run the fan during the day to move air around in between cooling (or heat) cycles. In my current house, if a cooling cycle is complete, the furnace will shut down the fan for a second or two, then fire back up (w/o the compressor).
Things seem to run fine although this is rather annoying. In my previous homes the fan would run continuously through heat and cooling cycles with just the burners or compressor coming on or off independently. Any ideas why it works this way? Any troubleshooting ideas on the furnace controller circuit board?
As an additional clue-- I recently replaced the old zone control board (outside the furnace unit) with a Honeywell HZ311. The previous model had a fried trace on the PCBA running from the fan relay to the fan control terminal running to the furnace.
TIA for any advice.

you can see if you are losing the G signal to the furnace during this 2 second period and if so then it is the design of the new zone panel. If you don't lose the G signal then it is likely the design of the furnace control board.

Epilogue:
HVAC tech came this week and says it's normal. Supposedly a built in function of some furnace control boards to accommodate fans that run at different speeds when in solo fan mode versus heat/cool mode. FWIW
