question about air handler

after using the great info.on this site i found the problem with my trane xe 1000 unit(bad disconnect)i have a question though about the air handler in my house. the ac unit would not run until i turned the furnace fan on ,why is this? just trying to figure this bad boy out.really appreciate the help you provide.thanks alot

If u dont have the fan on. The system will ice over and drops the pressures

Why would you want the ac on without the fan in the first place?

i am just trying to figure out why,after i replaced the bad disconnect,the ac unit or it's fan would not run until i turned circulating fan (inside the house) on? but when the ac unit went out ,the circulating fan in the house ran continuously. thanks for your help...........

How do you turn your furnace fan on ? and when does the AC come on ? when does AC stop ?

wondering,why the fan will run constant without a/c unit running,but a/c unit will not run without fan running?(fan and a/c unit operate from thermostat)

That is the way it was designed. you can run your fan without AC, but you can not run your AC without fan.
