I need A/C Tips Please

Hello, I just joined because the ac unit of the second level of my home stopped working. I notice it was only blowing hot air so i check the outside ac unit and the fan is not turning. the digital thermostat does not have the little arrow to indicate the condensor is working. I went to the attic to inspect. the safety switch has given me problems before but today as i am working with it...it fell apart and sparked. i cut the breaker to the unit and ordered another switch....i did check all the breakers including the quick disconnect.

it will take a week for the switch to arrive......the air handler was blowing the whole time the condensor was not. the switch needed replacing but i kinda think it is not the problem. I traced the coolant line to look for any signs of leaking but nothing, i last run the unit about 2 months ago and it worked fine. I have company coming from out of town is why i checked it.
Does anyone think i could be the thermostat went faulty? btw it is rheem 2 ton and is about 8 years old. electric ac with propane heat. please help?

i had a chance to investigate a little more....wired the safety switch wires together so i could test the system and took covers off condensor unit....no signs of coolant leakage anywhere....nothing looks frayed or burned...capacitor is located in a hard spot but appears ok...when ac is turn on i can hear a hum if i put my ear to the fan motor....but the fan spins freely by hand....is this just a low coolant problem or what?

actually, i was able to find a video on youtube that showed how to manually trip the contact inside the condensor unit and it started up and has been running ever since. the safety switch on the air handler is still strait wired until the new switch arrives...it is on order....two possibilities at this point....

1. after sitting for two months without use....the contacts must have gotten dirty and wouldnt work.

2.after two months of inuse...the refrigerant pressure may have become to low for the unit to start...but when i manually started it...it pump the pressure up...

3. OR BOTH...lol....

when i started the unit...temp of second level was 85 degrees. In5 hours it cooled that floor down to 70 degrees....so i t is working...

If you mean the contactor, that's a fairly easy repair to replace one. If you are not getting power to the coil on the contactor, you have another problem.
